7 Stages Of Watching The Great British Bake Off

The Great British Bake Off returns to our screens tonight (yay!) and we couldn’t be happier. The Love Island shaped hole in our hearts can finally be filled with a calorific instalment of everyone’s not-so-guilty pleasure. Watching the show can be quite the rollercoaster, from burnt sponge to soggy bottoms and we’re more than ready for the highs, the lows and the innuendos. To get you in the mood for all of the baking action, we’ve rounded up the stages everyone goes through while watching the show…

The pre-show baking…

You’ve invited friends over, there may be a bottle (or two) of Prosecco chilling and there’s some form of baked goods, fresh from the oven. Bliss.

The countdown…

Can 8pm just hurry up? You’ve got treats to eat and fizz to drink.

The momentary panic…

You’ve been watching Springwatch on BBC for the past hour in preparation. It’s on Channel 4 people!

 The butterflies…

Those steely blue eyes and the Hollywood stare, we’ve missed this. Just us?

The stomach grumbles…

How are you meant to watch three rounds of delicious food being made without getting hungry? Pass the snacks.

The tears…

Weeping is inevitable when your favourite contestant gets voted out. Then come the happy tears when the underdog wins star baker. It really is a rollercoaster.

The questions…

Sixty minutes flies by, right? Who will win the Technical next week? Will Prue accidentally reveal the winner again (doh!) What comedy sketch will Noel and Sandy come up with.

We’re ready to be addicted all over again!
