How would you describe the “mood” of your edit for October?

I am obsessed with the pieces! Some of them are really statement but can be styled with other pieces to make a really cool going out looks. There are beautiful creams and whites, and then there are warm tones like chocolate brown, chestnut, lovely dove greys. The textures are also beautiful.

Can you talk us through a couple of your chosen styles? What details stand out for you and why?

There are a lot of pieces in here that are giving me major Audrey Hepburn vibes: retro, elegant and classic. Like this coat: it’s double breasted and oversized so it’s really practical. The fabric is really thick and soft, which is perfect for October when it’s not freezing yet. I’d rock this with a chocolate brown slip skirt and a chunky cable knit jumper. It’s one of my favourite pieces – the kind of thing I’ll be wearing day in, day out.

You’ve selected a lot of monochromes and neutrals this season. How would you add in a pop of colour?

Warm neutrals are my favourite, but I love to add a pop of colour. I think it’s very easy to do that with an accessory; a colour-pop bag (like the red one in the edit) really stands out whether you’re wearing it with brown or grey.

What are your tips for layering, without your outfit becoming bulky?

It’s an interesting one because oversized and bulky is a huge trend – but make sure that it’s done in a balanced way. So maybe the top half is bulky (with your oversized bomber and a roll neck), then the bottom is a tapered pant or straight leg to balance out the silhouette.

What are three things do you look for when buying a new winter coat?

For me, I want something that is going to stand the test of time and keep me warm because I am absolutely freezing all the time. This faux shearling number is oversized with a zip, a really lovely chunky belt. I love the detail on the cuff. It’s an absolute winner that will take you through right to the end of February.

What kinds of occasions are you looking forward to getting dressed up for in the month ahead?

When autumn arrives, we all get excited about dinner parties, entertaining at home and nights out. When choosing what to wear for these occasions, I choose really elegant pieces that you might be wearing all day for work but can still wear into your evening plans. It’s about being realistic; we are busy, we are working all day, so we want something to take us from day to night.
