Going Back to Work – Laura

Let’s talk going back to work, whether it be working from home or going back to the office!

Going back to work can be really daunting, you can’t anticipate the juggle it can be between family and work. It can be a trial-and-error situation but take all the support from your friends and family. Drop your boundaries, accept help.

Preparation is also super important, organisation is key. Set a routine before the baby comes along that then continues when the baby gets here.

Value what is important in your life, if you need to be with you baby, be with them, people will understand if something can’t happen because of your family. We put ourselves into a position where we feel judged if we put our family as a priority and that shouldn’t be the case. We apologise a lot for being mums, when we don’t have to.

Balance – Lucy

Being a modern mum can be difficult, finding the balance of work, rest and play.

A bedtime routine is key, it’s how you can guarantee some me time, when the baby is in bed. But be prepared mum life is so unpredictable and you can’t always plan for me time, so when the time arises… take it!

It’s easier said than done but try and go with the flow, babies can pick up on vibes, when you’re stressed, they’re stressed, try to be calm. Everything is a phase just ride the wave don’t stress. Enjoy the little things- it goes so fast enjoy it!

Mum’s the Word – Kirsten

Sleepless nights don’t last forever, they feel like forever, but routines do get set and it gets better.

The best and easiest way for changes, especially new-borns, is in your nappy bag keep lots of wet wipes at the top of your bag, not the bottom and nappies underneath - it’s the easiest way to be efficient and stay clean.

When you become a mum, you don’t lose yourself. Just remember to love yourself - you’re not just a mum, you’re also who you were before.

Breastfeeding was super challenging, no one really prepares you and it hurts- once you get past that it’s a great experience- there was so many challenges at the beginning, but it gets better.

Even though you feel like you can do everything yourself, you should always take help and ask for help, when and as you need it.

Thank you so much to The Mum Club for sharing your tips and tricks of navigating life with a bundle of joy… We hope they help you too!
