Editor’s Picks with Louise Roe: The September Edit

What are some of the key pieces you’ve selected for the new season?

I’ve picked out some amazing key pieces for my editor’s picks, including a showstopper of a jacket. It’s red boucle, with beautiful fringing along the hem. I love the pop of gold on the buttons, and the sharp, padded shoulder too. It’s '90s-tastic and I love it. As well as that, some key pieces are high waisted wide leg jeans, and an oversized vintage-inspired biker jacket (which I love). There’s also lots of beautiful satiny, silk vibes and another key '90s piece: the old school bomber.

What do you look for in autumn/winter essentials?

The key aspects of any look I’m about to buy is longevity. Something like this chocolate brown slip dress: it is so delicious with the ‘90s cowl neck, the super long drape at the back. This could be in my wardrobe for another decade or more. I’d wear it with a white blazer and heels to the theatre, then I’d dial it down with a flat sandal and maybe a long cardigan over the top. It’s very versatile, but I also think it’s timeless.

How would you suggest elevating a casual piece for a dressier occasion?

Something like the bomber might look very informal, but let’s say you wear it with a slip dress underneath or with tailored trousers. The way you can dress a bomber up is with the accessories: a killer strappy sandal, hair slicked back, big gold hoops, red lip – how gorgeous is that?

For people that are heading back to the office post-summer holidays, do you have any tips for switching up the workwear wardrobe?

When it comes to back to school and back to work season, it’s always really fun to try a fresh new aesthetic. Nowadays there really isn’t a uniform when it comes to work, and every industry is different, so have fun with it. Push the boundaries, experiment with new pieces and how you can accessorise them.
