Meet the Denim Lover: Sandro

Good jeans are in our DNA... and they’re in yours too. To us at River Island, denim is more than just a staple: it’s a way of life. Luckily for us, a lot of you are on the same wavelength. For our latest denim campaign, we searched the UK to find people that love our jeans as much as we do: from Manchester to Essex and everywhere in between. One of our biggest denim lovers is Sandro (aka @sandrofarmhouse). You might recognise him as a regular feature on our Instagram (usually spotted in jeans) or as one of the stars of 2022’s Great British Bake Off, but now he’s taking on the modelling world as one of the stars of our RI denim campaign. We stole five minutes of his time (and a slice of the homemade cheesecake he bought with him), to find out more about his love for all things denim.

How many pairs of jeans do you currently have?

I have too many to count on these hands. I probably have every selection that River Island sells of denim. So maybe about 30+.

Which jeans fit are you wearing today and what do you like about them?

Today I’m wearing Straight Fit Jeans and I love that they’re just super comfortable. I can wear them anywhere: to a restaurant, to drinks, anywhere. They’re so flexible.

Apart from what you’re wearing right now, what’s one other way you’d wear this pair of jeans?

I love wearing denim with just a plain white tee or white vest and a pair of fresh white trainers. It’s a classic look for me.

Would you wear double denim and how would you style it?

Double denim is a yes for me. Again, I’d probably style it with a white tee or white vest and trainers, especially if it’s a classic blue denim. I also like to mix and match with different washes and colours of denim as well.

If you're going out or going out-out, how would you wear jeans?

For going out, I would wear them with a smart shirt and some sort of smart casual footwear. In terms of fit, I'll most likely go for skinny jeans to make it a little bit smarter.

Do you remember if you've had a pair of jeans that you really loved?

There was this pair of jeans that I was obsessed with. Until they had holes, I wore them all the time. But yeah, they were very, very skinny. I've left that look now. I prefer the straight, relaxed, fit.

You used to work in River Island stores. What does RI mean to you?

It was my first job and then my first management job as well. It means quite a lot to me because it's still part of my life. I started off my first job working there and now I'm part of this campaign and you know, wearing the clothes proudly. It’s a full circle moment, definitely.

What's your favourite kind of occasion to wear your denim?

I am a denim guy through and through, so I’m always wearing denim. I’m wearing daily denim, nightly denim.

What do you love about River Island denim, specifically?

What I love about River Island denim is that anyone can wear it. It's really flexible. So many different styles. So many different fits. I've been a fan since day one.
