Top five greatest knits

*Drum roll* we’re ready to boldly claim our top five knits of the season. Meet the jumpers and cardigans that have earned their place in the knitted hall of fame based on two very important things: style and cosiness. Thanks to lockdown we’ve perfected the art of luxe comfort and our look for AW ‘21 is no different. From knitted sweaters in bold colours to longline cardigans that offer sophistication by the bucket load, looking cool and staying warm is easy this season. If you’re on the hunt for new women’s jumpers, look no further.

If your love language is touch, prepare to fall head over heels for this oversized textured knit. It’s a cream cable knit but not as you know it – from the chunky high neckline and fringed trims, to the extreme long sleeves, this is like no other jumper in your wardrobe. French tuck into slouchy brown trousers and wear with heeled mules for your one-day-a-week at the office, or go casual and pair it with indigo mom jeans and your favourite kicks.

If you’re going to invest in anything this season, invest in a cashmere jumper. The epitome of luxury style, add a cashmere knit to your rotation and it’ll stay there forever. A designer bag may be out of reach (for now) but cashmere can be for everyone. A little more pricey but if you live in knitwear why not treat yourself? Put your money where your jumpers are and join the elite group of knitwear lovers. Keep it classic (but avoid red wine) in a RI Studio cream option or inject some fun with a dose of tie dye. Just add denim, cowboy boots and a beanie for a weekend ready look.

Get yourself a long knitted cardigan this season for lady-of-the-manor vibes. We became masters of luxe loungewear during 2020, and post-pandemic, our love of all things cosy has stuck around. Whether you’re staying in or heading out, a longline cardigan is a must have. Drape it over a mini skirt and thigh high boots or wear it as a fancy finishing touch to lazy saturday ensembles. Layer up and have fun playing with silhouettes this season – pair your long knit with heeled boots and cropped hemlines.

Grandad vests are still all the rage and we’re not mad at it. It’s no secret that we’re big layering fans, especially during the colder months and knitted vests open up a new world of layering opportunities. Style over a black silk blouse to play with both texture and colour-blocking, or wear over a long sleeve turtleneck on extra cold days. That’s the thing with a knit vest, they’re style elevators as well as warmth providers. Our favourite way to wear them? With tailored trousers and cowboy boots. Perfection.

Hands up if you’re addicted to jumper dresses? Nothing says Autumn/Winter more than a chunky cable knit jumper dress with thigh high (faux) leather boots and a waist belt if you’re feeling fancy. It’s an easy way to dress up without compromising on comfort. Brighten up the darker days and colder nights with a bold pop of colour – whether you’re headed to work or dinner with friends, you’ll feel pretty powerful in this pop of pink. Style tip: pair with maroon, oxblood or deep purple shades for an elevated autumnal colour palette.
