You've Got This with Trina Outram

Trina's our most mysterious contender when it comes to her bio, which just made us *more* excited to work with her on our International Women's Day collection of positive affirmations. A lover of hoops and stripey tees, we got to know the woman behind the drawings.

What does International Women’s Day mean to you?

International Women’s Day is an amazing time for everyone to come together in celebration of women everywhere. I love to see the support, love and praise we all give one another.

Why did you choose this particular affirmation? What inspired you to create it?

Be fierce and free, be who you want to be! Came from another slogan I had as an initial idea. ‘Be as the ocean’s waves, fierce and free’. I love to include nature and motivation in my work and these words represent movement and power. That is what being a woman means to me; we are strong, unique and should feel free to express ourselves however we like.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?

My favourite things to draw at the moment are florals and printed outfits. Flowers are timeless and I love experimenting with colour and scale. I sometimes draw my dream prints on jackets and dresses…I just wish they were real to wear!

When and how did you first get into illustration?

My background is in art and design so being creative is a big part of my life. But I hadn’t drawn freely for quite a while until I started tno.illustration during the pandemic. My illustrations started off as a hobby to keep me busy, but now it’s turned into a little community on social media and it’s been amazing to see the lovely things people say about my work.

What three words would you use to describe your illustrations?

Vibrant, fun and motivational.

If you could see any artist wearing your work, who would pick to represent you?

It would have to be Frida Kahlo. She is a big style inspiration of mine!
