3 easy bakes for World Baking Day

World Baking Day is upon us, and what better way to celebrate than making a sweet treat (or three!) with your mini chefs? Here’s three baking recipes from @nikkiandthelittles you and your brood will love (you’ll probably end up eating most of it - call it parent tax). Roll up your sleeves, grab your ingredients, and let's get ready to make some cute cakes.

Chocolate Cornflake Cakes

“This is a firm favourite in our house.”


Ingredients:

- Cornflakes

- Any kind of chocolate

- Sweets

- Cupcake casings


Simply melt some chocolate and mix some cornflakes in before decorating them with your favourite sweets. Pop them in the fridge to let them set and enjoy.

Strawberry Custard Pastries

“A quick and easy and pretty dessert to make.“


Ingredients:

- Pre-made puff pastry

- Custard

- Strawberries

- Icing sugar


Grab some pre-made puff pastry and cut them into squares/rectangles. Pop some custard (or filling of your choice) into the middle of your pastry and pop them into the oven for 10-12 minutes at 180°C. Once they are out, add some strawberry hearts and sprinkle some icing sugar. Delicious every time, and loved by the whole family ❤️

Sugar Cookies
“Baking for our very own front yard cake sale! This is a great after-school activity for little ones."

Ingredients:
- 120g butter, softened
- 75g light brown sugar
- 75g golden caster sugar
- 1 medium egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 180g plain flour
- ½ tsp bicarbonate of soda

Once the ingredients are mixed to form your cookie dough, cut them into the shapes you prefer and pop them in the oven at 180°C for 12 minutes. Once cooled, let your little ones with some decorative edible glue and sprinkles of their choice!
