4 Looks from the Barbie Movie Press Tour

We’re not sure you’re noticed but The Barbie Movie is *almost* here, and Margot Robbie is pretty much in character 24/7. The press tour outfits have us in a chokehold: from red carpet looks to junkets, we’re screenshotting and setting up post notifications. Inspired by exact recreations of Barbie outfits from the ‘50s and ‘60s, they’re equal parts retro and modern with several twists referencing iconic pieces from *all* the fashion eras. Let’s recap. It’s Margot’s world: we’re just living in it…

The Red Carpet Party 📍 Sydney

Just in case your vintage Versace chainmail dress (first worn by Claudia Schiffer in 1995, mind you) is at the dry cleaners’, here’s the River Island version take on Margot’s look worn for her stop in Sydney, Australia. A clever-cut playsuit with the illusion of a skirt (there’s shorts underneath!), Margot’s also been a huge fan the bandeau cut, so we couldn’t not have this hero piece take centre-stage. And of course, lots of marabou and diamante please.

The Premiere 📍 Los Angeles

Margot Robbie’s recent Barbie premiere look wasn’t even pink – and we’re still floored. It might even be our favourite: an exact replica of Solo in the Spotlight Barbie’s gown from the 1960s. Channel movie star energy with this black sequin dress and silver choker necklace. Find some opera gloves and style with a high ponytail for added drama, if you’re ready.

Another vintage reference from Margot’s stylist: 1964’s Sparkling Pink Barbie. She wore a hot pink, bejewelled co-ord, frankly adorable matching pillbox hat (ask your Nan what that is) and a heart-shaped bag. We’ve toned it down slightly for everyday: this tweed mini dress is perfectly preened for 9-5 and 5-9, with a cutesy handbag to match and block heel slingbacks or preppy loafers to tip-toe around in.

The Photo Call 📍 Los Angeles

What better way to make your mark as a real-life Barbie than in a bright pink halter mini dress? Style this easy breezy summer look with white courts like Margot for your next garden party and signature cat eye shades. It’s girly, but grown-up – the fit-and-flare shape of our dress makes it casual enough for day things but you can definitely go dancing in Malibu. Now, where did we put Ken again…
