5 Emily in Paris worthy co-ords

Coming in haute from the streets of Le Marais, Emily in Paris is back (and more divisive than ever). If, like us, you've eagerly been waiting for updates on Emily’s rollercoaster love life and her bizarre success at work, despite only knowing five words of French (one being croissant), mark the 21st of December in your iCal. Go one step further and dress the part in four Emily in Paris worthy co-ords complete with colour and print clash. Disclaimer: this isn’t a lesson in dressing like a Parisian. It’s anything but.

What do you wear on your first day at your new job in Paris when you don’t speak French and want to fit in? Not this, and that's the great thing about Emily. She is unapologetically herself and dresses solely for her and not her French colleagues. A low-key Parisian might not be seen dead in this outfit but ringarde Emily? She’ll have strangers stopping her in the street asking for outfit deets.

Another day, another glitzy work soirée in the 16th arrondissement. Working an event, probably for Pierre Cadult, calls for another matching moment this time in pink. Knowing Emily, there’s bound to be some plot development (read: romantic encounter) that she’ll dissect with bff Mindy later. Our bets on either with the Cockney Brit who puts Pat Butcher’s accent to shame or the French Chef who just so happens to work the same events as Emily in every single episode.

A micro-mini blazer dress can only mean one thing. This look is straight from Mindy’s wardrobe. Season three promises even more performances from the Chinese PopStar failure turned cabaret success. Mindy is Emily’s shoulder to cry on and sounding board for her rollercoaster love life but she also serves up look after look for our viewing pleasure. Less custesy than Emily and less French than Camille, Mindy’s workwear meets western vibe bridges the show’s transatlantic sartorial gap.

A look like this can mean only one character: our sweet, Camille! Red flag “friendship pacts” aside, she’s perhaps the most unproblematic character in the show and the best example of Parisian style we see. The Breton stripes, the sleek tailored trousers, the sculptural loafers and shoulder bag all in fashion’s favourite shade - black. Camille may have had a rocky year, but at least her effortless French girl style is a constant.

Has Emily fallen out of love with Paris? Season two ended with a serious cliffhanger leaving us all questioning her future at Savoir HQ. One thing we know for certain is her joyful fashion choices are going nowhere. Micro-mini mixing with a chunky rainbow knit and debuting the boot of 2023 is very Emily. We just hope her French has improved.
