THE BLACK FRIDAY SURVIVAL GUIDE

Four tips to win at stress-free sale shopping

Before the Black Friday madness hits, roll up your sleeves, possibly do some breathing exercises and read our top tips for bagging the best bargains this year.

1.    Plan

You read it right: savvy sale shoppers plan ahead. To avoid being overcome by all the bargains on Black Friday [*faints*], make a list of the new pieces your wardrobe really wants (plus the Christmas gifts you need to buy for your friends and fam). Do some research, make a list, and you’ll feel more in control when the cyber weekend rolls around.

2.    Set a spending limit

Sorry, but this might involve looking at your bank balance ahead of time (we hate doing that, too). Setting a sensible limit will help you prioritise, too, and hone in on the bits you just have to get. You could always save the rest of your wishlist for the January sales, right?

3.    Stick to your style

We’ve all been there: a discount on a turquoise feather-embellished ballgown on a random website was so good, you had to buy it. Girl, no. Don’t buy something just because it’s great value on your screen: if you won’t wear it, it’s not worth anything to your wardrobe. That’s simple fashion maths.

4.    Keep it simple

Scouring the internet far and wide for the best deals is stressful. Causing a crash on your work computer from a hundred open tabs is also very last year (sorry, I.T. dept). Stay streamlined, keep your shopping simple and pick from the best womenswear, menswear and kidswear around at River Island. You’re welcome.
