What’s your ultimate essential, a simple piece you come back to time and time again?

A really good knit. I like to size up because it looks cooler and keeps me nice and cosy for the winter. A style like the cable knit is a forever piece especially if it has exaggerated sleeves which make any jumper look more contemporary.

What is your favourite way to elevate a pair of cargos?

Adding heels or boots. Cargos work so well for daytime because they’re a casual style but by adding a heel you can balance out the utility with a touch of femininity which creates an exciting combination.

Three things to look for when you’re shopping for a good suit?

Make sure it fits you well and falls in the right way. The perfect suit is hard to find so don’t be afraid to get things tailored to your perfect fit. I’m currently loving playing with proportions, styling oversized suit jackets with floor-skimming wide leg trousers. The epitome of slouchy smart.

What are your top tips for making classic staples, like a striped shirt or tailored trousers, feel fresh?

For tailored trousers, it's all about that high/low balance. Adding a casual sweatshirt to more formal trousers immediately creates interest because of the juxtaposition between the two styles. With a striped shirt, you can choose something a little more daring because they’re so easy to chuck on. I love to pair this staple with a leather skirt and knee high boots for something a little different. There are very few outfits that won’t work with a striped shirt because they’re so versatile, so don’t be afraid to experiment.

What’s your favourite everyday trend for the upcoming season?

Cowboy boots! Ankle length or knee height, I’m not fussy. I’ve been wearing them a lot this season and love incorporating them into my outfits.

Why are stripes such a classic?

You can wear them in so many different ways and they’ve been around forever. They’re as relevant now as they were in the ‘60s which gives them their ‘classic’ status. That and the fact that everyone wears them.

Cargo pants are a great transseasonal piece that work year-round. When summer hits, swap your jumpers for t-shirts and your boots for slides for the ultimate al-fresco look. An elevated satin finish would make them perfect for all day to night plans.
